The Portland Beardsmen are about promoting a positive outlook on the bearded lifestyle by giving back to local charities and using our facial hair to foster goodwill and a little joy in our hometown. We challenge society to look past the hair on our face and see what we are all about. To that end, The Portland Beardsmen host beard competitions, deliver flowers each Mother’s Day, and participate in many other opportunities to raise money for charity.
We are registered with the state of Oregon and have been successfully fundraising since January of 2013. We have worked with a variety of charities. These include: The Oregon Food Bank, Portland Rescue Mission, Family Dogs New Life Shelter, The Uprise Books Project, Imagine Possibilities, New Avenues for Youth and more.
For 2018, we have chosen to work with two great local charities: Breast Friends and Camp KC. Breast Friends believes that no woman should face cancer alone. They provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support to women who are battling cancer and their families. Camp KC is Cascade AIDS Project’s free summer camp. HIV-positive and HIV-affected children spend a week at the coast making friends and having fun with other kids who understand their challenges. Campers are aged 5-15 and participate in swimming, arts and crafts, dance classes, nature hikes, ropes courses, and many other creative opportunities.
Our two fundraising efforts are Beards and Roses and The Rose City Beard and Moustache Competition. Beards and Roses (BnR) is our annual Mother’s Day flower delivery. Dressed in tutu’s, Beardsmen
deliver flowers to mothers, grandmothers, loved ones, and coworkers all over the Portland metro area. This is the 6th year for BnR, and it is always a highlight of the year. Sponsors help us provide the flowers, chocolates and other small gifts, and 100% of the profits will be donated to Breast Friends. Then, June 23rd, we host The Rose City Beard and Moustache Competition. This is one of the largest facial hair competitions in the country. The bearded and beard lovers from nearly every western state and Canada will converge on Portland to see who has the best beards and build friendships; all while raising money for a good cause. We had 125 competitors and hundreds more spectators last year and we expect to grow even larger this year. Your name and product will be exposed to people who might have never seen it before!
Your support as a sponsor is vital for all that we do. If you are interested in a sponsorship to help our charity, we have different levels of sponsoring available. I have included our sponsorship levels for you to take a look at. You can contact us through our Facebook page or email.
